Just hire Ty Lue already! It's not hard!
Woj just broke minutes ago that talks have broken down between the Lakers and Ty Lue for as they attempt to reach a deal to make him the next Head Coach of the Lakers. By every metric, he is a qualified coach and is more than fit to replace Luke Walton after he was unjustly fired followed an injury riddled season.
Just as a reminder, Tyron Lue is an NBA championship coach and he guided the Cavaliers (along with LeBron James) to three consecutive NBA Finals!
Apparently the big issue between the two sides is over Lue's potential staff. The Lakers want to pick his assistants for him and he wants to pick his own. WHICH HE SHOULD HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DO! According to many reports, he wants to have Frank Vogel (ex-Pacers and Magic HC) as his lead assistant along with other strong, veteran assistants. A strong bench with multiple good assistants is better than one great coach and no one else to help.
The Lakers wants coaches like Jason Kidd on the coaching staff with Lue, who Lue - understandably - does not want anywhere near his coaching staff! In case you forgot, Jason Kidd become the head coach in Brooklyn and then forced his way out to become the coach in Milwaukee because he didn't like his current situation. He has had a history of being a manipulator and looking out for himself. What is to stop him from doing that again? The Lakers have had front office problems all year long and then is just another exemplification of their problems.
It's easy Lakers...just let him pick his assistants and pay him his money. Now you've wasted your chance at making LeBron happy and at hiring a competent head coach.
At this point the Lakers don't deserve a good head coach...
